Ready for a Christmas Adventure: 8 Experience Gifts for 2026

Under the Christmas tree, the same thing happens year after year: a box gets unwrapped, a thank you is said, and a few weeks later it's already hard to remember what was even inside. A well chosen experience gift, on the other hand, isn't just one more object, it's a day people look back on for years.

The 8 ideas below showcase experience gifts for Christmas 2026 that suit different tastes and occasions, from calm, pampering activities all the way to truly extreme adventures.

Why is giving an experience worth it this year?

• No Christmas crowds, no last minute scrambling: most experience gifts can be bought online in just a few minutes, no need to spend hours in packed stores
• You can't get it wrong: you don't need to know the exact size or taste, like you would with clothing or cosmetics
• The family is already together over the holidays anyway: this is exactly when it's easiest to fit in a shared activity
• No need to redeem it right away: most experiences can still be used weeks or months after the holidays, if there's simply no time for it at Christmas

Let's get into the actual ideas!

1. A scenic flight in a small plane

A short scenic flight in a small plane shows the landscape from above in a way that anyone who's never seen the world like that is guaranteed to never forget.

• A unique, rarely tried experience
• A great gift for a milestone anniversary or achievement
• Worth booking ahead, since weather can affect scheduling

2. A caving adventure

A guided caving tour offers an exciting, adventurous activity for anyone who loves exploring and doesn't mind getting a little dirty.

• Accessible for beginners too, with equipment and a guide
• A genuinely special experience, different from everyday activities
• A great activity with friends or family alike

3. An outdoor escape game from Landventure

Most experience gifts require booking a time slot in advance, which can be tricky over the holidays when everyone else is organizing things too. Landventure is different here: it's a smartphone based outdoor escape game in which participants solve the city's puzzles as part of an exciting story, exactly when it suits them, with no booking required.

It's also an excellent Christmas gift:

• Flexible timing: no need to work around a pre booked time slot
• Great for larger, multi generational groups too: everyone takes part at their own pace
• Customizable: a personal message or photo can be worked into the mission
• The voucher can be bought quickly, and redeemed at any available mission in Germany

If you redeem it during the holidays, it can start right away, and if you're saving it for a later occasion, it stays valid for three years.

4. Experience shooting

If the recipient loves action packed activities that require focus, a guided shooting experience offers real excitement and a sense of accomplishment under safe conditions.

• Accessible to beginners too, with instruction included
• A great entry point into a more special, rarely tried type of activity
• Requires no prior experience

5. Skiing or cross country skiing at a nearby resort

If the recipient loves winter sports, a day of skiing or cross country skiing is a great way to get out into the fresh air and spend an active day in a true winter atmosphere.

• Available for beginners and advanced skiers, with or without an instructor
• A genuinely seasonal experience, specifically suited to December and January
• A good activity with friends or family alike

6. Tandem skydiving or bungee jumping

For those craving a truly extreme experience, tandem skydiving or bungee jumping delivers a once in a lifetime adrenaline rush they'll never forget.

• A special, rarely received type of gift
• A great choice for anyone who likes pushing their own limits
• Worth checking ahead whether the weather and season allow it

7. A gingerbread baking workshop

In a guided session, they learn how to bake and decorate real, festive gingerbread, which they can then take home or even pass along as a gift themselves.

• A genuinely festive, seasonal activity
• A great choice for families with kids and groups of friends alike
• The finished treat is a little keepsake in itself

8. An evening cruise with Christmas lights

An evening cruise through the illuminated city is a particularly romantic, festive experience, and a genuinely popular December activity in many cities.

• A good choice for couples and families alike
• Comfortable, no physical exertion required
• A special sight filled with Christmas lights

Which one should you choose?

If you're after something calm yet special, the scenic flight or the evening cruise is a safe bet. If you're after adrenaline or an exciting challenge instead, the caving adventure, the shooting experience, bungee jumping, or Landventure's detective game will get the most out of the day.

If you don't want to spend too much time deciding, an experience gift voucher is always a solid choice for Christmas: the recipient gets to decide which program to try, and when.
